Jack M. Schwartz, 60, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at St. Luke’s Heart Institute, Kansas City, Mo.
He was born Jan. 12, 1957, to Betty L. (Yeager) Pokorny and Phillip A. Schwartz. He was a 1975 graduate of Hays High School and later graduated from Fort Hays State University.
The majority of his adult life was spent in the securities and investment business. He had a passion for working with and coaching young athletes, especially in track and field. He attained the rank of Black Belt in both Tae Kwon Do and Hapkito.
He enjoyed traveling abroad and riding motorcycles throughout the central U.S. with his brothers and friends.
Survivors include his love of 25 years, Mary Heath, Salina; a son, Dominic Brandon Schwartz; two daughters, Jennifer Diane Reyes and Jessica Danielle Hix, and Mary’s daughter, Nancy Keim; three brothers, Channing D. Schwartz and wife, Constance, Alliance, Neb., Dennis R. Schwartz and wife, Kathy, Midland, Texas, and Frank J. Schwartz and wife, Nancy, Liberal; his stepfather, Robert Pokorny, Hays; four grandchildren, Kaden Keim, Alexandra Keim, Gwendolyn Hix and Finnigan Sprague; an aunt, Lorraine Bramwell, Concordia; and nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Channing Dion Schwartz.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina; burial in Greenville Cemetery, Niles.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be sent to local school athletic programs at a later date.
