Jack Donald Smotherman, 63, Hays, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, in Hays.
He was born July 15, 1954, in Lebanon, Tenn., to Ralph Woodrow and Lassie M. (Lawless) Smotherman.
He married Cheryl (Brown) on July 25, 1985, in Topeka. He was an aircraft mechanic for AAR Aviation in Oklahoma City.
He was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Church, Hays.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching wrestling on TV and was known to be a jokester.
Survivors include his wife, Hays; two sons, Grady William and wife, Tavia, Hays, and Ryan Smotherman and wife, Danielle, St. Louis; a daughter, Robin Banks and husband, Scott, Plano, Texas; a brother, Jerry Smotherman; two sisters, Mary Eden and Linda Morris; five grandchildren, Madalyn and Monique William, Jonathan, Nicholas and Colin Banks; a great-granddaughter, Lillianne Banks and his mother-in-law, Arleen Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles; and three sisters, Doris, Mildred and Sue.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Nicholas of Myra Church, Hays; cremation will follow services with private family inurnment to be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
A rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Foundation, the Kidney Foundation or to the family to help offset medical expenses.
