Thomas John Baumrucker, 77, Hays, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, in Hays.
He was born Nov. 15, 1940, in Hays to Ralph M. and Martina (Drees) Baumrucker. He was a 1958 graduate of Gorham High School and earned two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree, all from Fort Hays State University.
He owned and operated Hays Greenhouse for 42 years. He was a hands-on owner who always was eager to use his expertise in helping customers with their projects. Prior to operating the Hays Greenhouse he ran the family farm at the age of 19 after both of his parents died in a car accident.
He enjoyed the Denver Broncos, the Nebraska Cornhuskers and he was an avid supporter of Fort Hays State University.
Survivors include a sister, Eileen Regier, Hutchinson; a brother, Steve Baumrucker and wife, Nancy, Hays; and their sons, David, Hays, and Brian, Spring, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601; inurnment in St. Mary Cemetery, Gorham.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the chapel.
