Milfred Dean DeYoung, 91, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at Redbud Village, Plainville.

He was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Prairie View to Henry John and Della (Kolste) DeYoung. He grew up on the family farm near Palco, attending the local school.

He married Norma Jean Noah on Aug. 20, 2947. He enjoyed his life on the farm.

He was a member of the Palco United Methodist Church and Lion’s Club, and served on the USD 269 Board of Education, Graham County Hospital Board and First National Bank of Palco Board of Directors.

His hobbies included farm shows, traveling, taking in a car or motorcycle race, listening to music, snow skiing, flying, riding motorcycles, metal fabrication and coffee with friends.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Phil DeYoung and wife, Jo, Colby; two daughters, Debra Unrein and husband, Scott, Denver, and Marsha Newell and husband, Dale, Hays; two sisters, Verda Guthrie and Ila Parr, both of Great Bend; and two grandchildren, Ian and Jules Unrein, both of Denver.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Calvin and Stanley DeYoung; and a sister, Bernice Widener.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church, Palco; burial in Pleasant View Cemetery, Palco.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, Plainville.

Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Palco United Methodist Church, Palco Lions Club or Redbud Village in care of funeral home.
