W. Pat Dreiling, 86, Victoria, died Sunday Jan. 7, 2018, at Via Christi Village, Hays.
He was born July 21, 1931, in Vincent to Alfred and Ellen (Baier) Dreiling. He was a graduate of Victoria High School and attended Fort Hays State University.
He married Theresa Lang on Oct. 16, 1951 and farmed in the Pfeifer area until relocating to Victoria in 1964. He began his insurance career with the Meckenstock Insurance Agency in 1965 and then in 1967 joined Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance Co. until he retired in 1995. His insurance career included claims adjusting, marketing and insurance education in 12 states. He was a certified insurance counselor and active in the Kansas Association of Insurance Agents. His retirement years included maintaining the Basilica of St. Fidelis Parish grounds, serving on the Senior Advisory Committee of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and driving cars for several Hays car dealerships. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was an active parishioner of the Basilica of St. Fidelis Catholic Parish throughout his life including six years on the parish council and 24 years on the City of Victoria Planning Commission.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa, Victoria; three sons, Paul and wife, Judy, Victoria, and Keith and wife, Linda, Topeka and Craig and wife, Mary Ann, Wichita; a daughter, Carolyn Berens and husband, Bernie, Salina; a sister, Mary Ellen Williamson, Port Charlotte, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Dreiling.
Services will be at 10 a.m, Saturday at the Basilica of St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, both at basilica.
A Victoria Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the basilica.
A vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the basilica.
Memorials are suggested to Salina Diocese Seminary Education Fund or Mass memorials to the Basilica of St. Fidelis Catholic Church Victoria,.
