Dustin Steven “Dusty” Karst, 39, Hays, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, in an automobile accident south of Ellsworth.

He was born May 17, 1978, in Larned. He was a graduate of Pearsall (Texas) High School and attended Fort Hays State University for two years where he was a pitcher for the Tiger baseball team.

He married Terra Zweygardt on April 25, 2015, in Pfeifer. He was the owner and operator of Karst Construction in Hays.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, softball, golf, and was a talented artist and guitarist. He often joked he was a “man of many talents and a master of none.” He deeply loved his friends and family.

Survivors include his wife, of the home in Hays; two daughters, Payten Karst and Kennedy Karst, both of Hays; his parents, Tom and Mary Karst, Hays; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lisa and Harvey Zweygardt, Wichita; a brother, TJ Karst and wife, Kristen, Hays; two sisters, Jessica Karst and spouse, Melissa Moffitt-Craft, Pratt, and Kristy Oborny and husband, Luke, Hays; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Steven Albert Karst, in December 1996.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday, both at the basilica.

A vigil and rosary will be at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at the basilica.
