Shirley A. Bieker, 84, Topeka, formerly of Russell and Hays, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at Aldersgate Village, Topeka.
She was born Sept. 5, 1933, near Gorham to Michael and Katherine (Mermis) Schmidtberger.
She married Julius A. Bieker on May 17, 1949, in Gorham. They made their home in Russell until 1972 when he died as the result of a work-related accident. She later moved to Hays and remained there until 2009 when poor health forced her to move to the nursing facility. She was a homemaker and clerk at Ruder Liquor Store.
She a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, for many years.
Survivors include two sons, David Bieker and wife, Nadine, Newton, and Rodney Bieker, Topeka; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all eight of her brothers and sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays; inurnment in St. Mary Cemetery, Gorham.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.
