Rosetta "Rose" Elvera Ochs, 95, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, at Grand Junction, Colo.

She was born Feb. 12, 1923, in Hoisington to Jacob and Agnes Stettinger.

She worked on her parents' farm during the depression and later married Lester Ochs on Dec. 4, 1943. The family moved to Kansas City, where she worked at Bethany Lutheran Church as a Sunday school and bible class teacher. The family later moved to Hays. While in Hays, she received her nurse’s aide training and worked for 25 years at Hays Medical Center. After her retirement, she lived at Wyndam Place, Hays, and most recently resided at Mesa View Senior Residences in Grand Junction. 

She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son, Darrel Ochs and wife, Kathy, Gypsum, Colo.; a daughter, Connie Riedel and husband, Drew, Grand Junction; a sister, Luella Miller, Great Bend; three granddaughters, Georgia Hopwood, Overland Park, Allison Kent and Summer Kassmel, both of Eagle, Colo.; a foster grandson, Ken Elder, Lee's Summit, Mo.; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leonard and wife, Esther; and a granddaughter, Jessica.

Cremation has taken place in Colorado; graveside services will be at a later date in Hays.
