Robert “Bob” Hinca, 84, Plainville, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018.

He was born June 11, 1933, in Buffalo, N.Y.

He was a diligent and dedicated worker and provider; the avid radio announcer “Bob Hammer;” an intense fan of all sports teams yielding from Buffalo, N.Y.; a lover of Big Band and Jazz music; and a magneto genius. He helped his community through years of service to youth as a Sunday School teacher, and family as a dedicated provider. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife, “Angel” Loretta Hinca, of 59 years; two sons, Mark L. Hinca and wife, Linda, and Craig A. Hinca and wife, Laura, all of Salina; two daughters, Mary A. Hurlbut (Hinca) and husband, Bryan, Edmond, Okla., and Lisa M. Ward (Hinca) and husband, Neal, Hays; two sisters, Rita and Mildred, Buffalo; and eight grandchildren, Ron Gabriel, Tim Gabriel, Landon Hurlbut, Abby Hurlbut, Paige Hinca, Nathan Ward, Ryan Ward and Grant Hinca.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alphonse “Al” and Leonard.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Life Center Church, Hays.

A closed casket visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, Plainville.
