E. Gary Schloh, 79, Los Gatos, Calif., died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at his home after a long illness. 

He was born Jan. 10, 1939, in Hays to Everett Schloh and Inez (Hachmeister) Schloh, Natoma. He was a 1957 graduate of Natoma High School and a 1964 graduate of Kansas State University in architecture. 

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Natoma. 

He married Erna Bennewitz on Jan. 30, 1970, in Santiago, Chile. He was employed by a Kansas City architectural firm; the U.S. Army as an inspector in Washington, D.C.; architectural firms in Germany, Libya and Chile. In 1983, he established his architect firm in Los Gatos, designing and building 450 homes, including countless restorations and city beautification, planting thousands of daffodils. His volunteer work was applauded by the mayor of Los Gatos.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Schloh and Claudia Rupprecht, Munich, Germany; a daughter, Alexa (Schloh) Newman and husband, Joshua; a sister, Gwendolyn (Schloh) Thomas, Lodi, Calif; a grandson, Samuel Newman, Santa Barbara, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.  

A memorial service was Feb. 16.
