David Ray Blake, 77, Russell, died Sunday, April 29, 2018, at his home.

He was born Nov. 18, 1940, in Augusta to Irwin and Esther Ila (Arnold) Blake. He was a graduate of Russell High School.

He married Ruby Mohl in 1968 in Great Bend. She preceded him in death Sept. 18, 2007. He was a farmer. He was a U.S. Arm veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include a daughter, Leah M. Maupin, Russell; a brother, Donald Blake, El Dorado; a sister, Joyce Scott, Augusta; and a granddaughter.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell; burial in Russell City Cemetery with military rites by Russell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday with family present to greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Kansas Draft Horse Association in care of the mortuary.
