Rev. Robert S. “Bob” Kreier, 89, Salina, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018. He was born Jan. 29, 1929, in Streator, Ill., to Gus and Tillie (Weber) Kreier.

He married Arleene V. Duerksen on June 13, 1957, in Ness City. Upon his ordination at his home church of St. Paul in Streator in 1955, his first call was at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ness City. During his years of ministry, he served numerous churches in north central and western Kansas, in addition to 11 years in Talmage, Neb. He retired in 1995 and moved to Salina.

Survivors included his wife, Arleene; two daughters, Kristy Madrer and husband, Curt, and Patty and Diane Branning; nine grandchildren, Zoe, Hayle, and Emily Mader, Donald Brown, Hollie, Ashley, Chad, and Tyler Kreier-Branning, and Tyree Branning; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, David; his parents; two sisters, Ruth and Maxine; and two brothers, Arthur and Roy. 

He enjoyed to golf, fish, and play sports with many of the youth of his churches. He was an avid photographer his entire life. He was a board member of the Oaks Indian Mission and continued to help support Oaks throughout his life. He enjoyed sharing stories of his life and spending time with his family. He was a jack of all trades, from fixing cars and mowers or wood working, and dedicated to his faith and family.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St John Lutheran Church, Salina.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and family greeting guests at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell, followed by a graveside committal service at 7 p.m. in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Russell. 

Memorials are suggested to Oaks Indian Mission, Oaks, Okla., in care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
