Hubert Brungardt, 83, Hays, died Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Via Christi Village, Hays.
He was born Feb. 12, 1935, in Gorham to Edward J. and Catherine (Bellinder) Brungardt.
He married Shirley (Jacobs) Stalder on May 19, 1997, in Hays.
He was a retired truck driver working for Groendyke and Farmland Industries for 24 years. Prior to that he had worked in the oil fields for 15 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and McPherson Knights of Columbus where he was a Third Degree knight.
He enjoyed making rosaries and being a Mr. Fix-it, being able to do most repairs on rental properties himself, and an avid Kansas City Royals fan.
Survivors include his wife, Hays; three daughters, LaQuita Geis and husband, Rocky, McPherson, Lisa Nelson and husband, Jim, Topeka, and Sue Jenkins and husband, David, Daytona Beach Shores, Fla.; two sisters, Marie Orth, McPherson, and Teckla Baker, Hays; four grandchildren, Jennifer Loy and husband, Stephen, Topeka, Rick Geis, Shawnee Mission, Kyle Nelson and Erica Kasper, McPherson, and Jared Nelson, Galva; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler Loy, Emily Loy and Brayden Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Laura Podsednik; and two brothers, Vitus and Leroy Brungardt.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors by Hays Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, both at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.
A McPherson Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the funeral chapel.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice at Hays Medical Center in care of the funeral chapel.
