Walter Eugene Cook, 59, rural Trego County, died Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.
He was born Dec. 17, 1958, in Hays to Carroll Dean and Mildred Joan (Hamilton) Cook. He was a graduate of Trego Community High School before attending college at Mid American Nazarene College and Fort Hays State University.
He married Karen Schneider on Dec. 27, 1980, in WaKeeney. He owned and operated Cook Cattle Co., as a farmer and rancher and previously owned and operated Cook’s Exteriors.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Wade Cook, Parkville, Mo.; two daughters, Donielle Geesling, Kingman, and Charisse Moratelli, Firestone, Colo.; his mother, two brothers, David Cook, Choctaw, Okla., and Evan Cook, Coldwater, Okla.; a sister, Cynthia Diehl, Phoenix; and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father on April 30, 2010.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, WaKeeney; inurnment will take place at a later date.
Visitation and viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or North Oak Community Church in care of the funeral home.
