Melvin “Mel” James Pfannenstiel, 76, Hays, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Hays Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 27, 1942, in Munjor, to Theodore “Ted” J. and Pauline (Wittman) Pfannenstiel. He was a graduate of Hays High School and Fort Hays State University.
He was a car salesman for Happy’s Auto in Hays.
He was an avid sports fan, particularly of the KU Jayhawks.
Survivors include a son, Theodore J. Pfannenstiel, Syracuse, N.Y.; three brothers, Kenneth J. Pfannenstiel and wife, Ann, Hays, Thomas J. Pfannenstiel, Kansas City, Kan., and Gordon F. Pfannenstiel and wife, Lynn, Russell; a sister, Annette Pfannenstiel-Brhel, Syracuse.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Munjor; inurnment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Monday until time of service at the church.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Church.
