Kenneth George Weimer, 70, Leavenworth, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018.

He was born Nov. 15,1947, in Moline, Ill., to Kenneth Howard and Lorraine Marcella (Foley) Weimer.

He married Patricia Jensen on Jan. 10, 1970. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany and Vietnam. Following his service, he was active in the Hays Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as post commander. He was honored by President Jimmy Carter as a young Vietnam Veteran for his community service. Boy Scouts activities and young athletic activities occupied his time while the children were growing up.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Kenneth “Andy” Weimer and wife, Maia, and Matthew Weimer and wife, Teresa; two brothers, Jerry Weimer and wife, Angie, and David Weimer; three sisters, Christine Leighty and husband, Ed, Kathy Hamor and Patty Ann Olson and husband, Dan; five grandchildren, Cidnye, Miles, Jada, Sophi and Aubri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mark Weimer; a sister, Merry Keith; and a daughter, Amy Jo.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pilgrim Community Church, Leavenworth; burial will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the the church.
