John M. Stull, 82, McCracken, formerly of Denver, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed, La Crosse.
He was born April 22, 1936, in La Crosse to Elza and Irene (Sekevac) Stull. He was a 1954 gradate of Brownell High School and received a bachelor of arts degree from Fort Hays Kansas State College .
He married Janice Myers on Aug. 13, 1961, in McCracken. In Denver, he was a chemist for Dow Chemical prior to working as a chemist for the Colorado School of Mines Research Institute. Upon his return to Kansas, he moved east of McCracken and farmed until his retirement. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from July 23, 1954, to July 22, 1958.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, McCracken, and Walnut City Lodge No. 215, Rush Center. He served on Nekoma State Bank Board of Directors and McCracken Public Library Board of Directors during the time the library was built.
He enjoyed reading, collecting stamps, and had a deep interest in genealogy, serving as the family genealogist.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Stull, McCracken; two sons, Craig Stull and wife, Julie, Kansas City, Mo., and Mike Stull and wife, Jerilyn, McCracken; a brother, Richard Stull and wife, Phyllis, Ness City; a sister, Linda Gearhart, Stillwater, Okla.; five grandchildren, Tayler Stull, Colby Stull, Jessica Scarato and husband, Ben, Matthew Stull and wife, Kara, and Katelynn Stull; and two great-grandchildren, Luca Scarato, and Kennedy Stull.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Cory Stull.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, McCracken; burial in McCracken City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse and from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. Saturday at the church.
