SYRACUSE — Eloise (Hughes) Weckerly, 93, of Syracuse, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at Homestead of Manhattan Assisted Living in Manhattan.

She was born March 20, 1925, in Byers, to Cecil Guy Hughes and Mabel A. (Wasson) Hughes.

She attended Byers High School and graduated in 1944.

On Feb. 10, 1946, she married Gene Weckerly in Scott City.

They made their home in the Bear Creek Community south of Syracuse. She was a farm wife. In 1981, she and her family moved to Syracuse and retired from the farm life. In 2016, she moved to Manhattan to be closer to her daughters.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Weckerly of Manhattan, and Donna Mosburg of Manhattan; one sister, JoAnn Simmons of Goodland; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Ruth (Hensley) Hughes; husband; son, Paul Lee Weckerly; four brothers, James Frisbie, Bill Hughes, Larry Hughes and Don Hughes; and two sisters, Delores Chance and Avola McMannis Zimmerman.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. MST Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Syracuse. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. MST Sunday at Fellers Funeral Home LLC, Syracuse.
