Arnold Wesley Prather, 81, Gove area resident, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born April 9, 1932, in Longacre, W.Va., to Earl Sylvester and Lola Maude (Richardson) Prather.

He married Opal M. Evans on June 8, 1952. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, William Earl Prather and Jeffrey Arnold Prather, both of Gove; a daughter, Tomaye Hipp, Oakley; a brother, Lewis Prather, Charleston, W.Va.; a sister, Ruth Ann Prather, Sissonville, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside committal services will take place before a memorial service.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Kansas Veterans Cemetery, WaKeeney, with military honors by Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gove Community Bible Church, Gove.
