David Dean Myers


David Dean Myers, 64, Hays, died Friday, June 13, 2014, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 5, 1949, in Hays to James T. "Bud" Myers and Josephine (Ptachek) Myers. He married Dolores Hertel on Sept. 6, 1969, in Hays. He was a street foreman for the city of Hays. He was a U.S. Army Reserves soldier from 1968 to 1974.

He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Hays VFW Post No. 9076 and the Hays American Legion Post No. 173.

He enjoyed restoring old cars, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, of the home in Hays; two sons, Kevin Myers and wife, Trisha, and Paul Myers, all of Hays; a brother, James L. Myers and wife, Alfreda "Fritz," Hays; and four granddaughters, Gracie, Rease, Jill and Claire Myers.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Billy "Hiney" Myers; and two sisters, Betty Hoss and Janet Sue Reever.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; burial in Hays Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors by the Hays VFW and American Legion.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m., both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine.

A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Council of Ellis County, in care of the funeral home.
