Elsie Root, 96, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Salina Presbyterian Manor.
She was born March 8, 1918, in Brighton, Colo., to Reinhardt and Molly Herbel.
She worked for Boogart Grocery and Brunk Jewelers prior to retirement.
Survivors include a son, Larry Root, Salina; a daughter, Phyllis Kraft, Bunker Hill; two sisters, Vera Pejsha and Molly Easter, Shawnee; two grandsons; three great-granddaughters; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, in 1997.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Church of the Nazarene, Salina; graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Wilson City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell, and viewing will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Salina Presbyterian Manor, First Church of the Nazarene or Hospice of Salina in care of the mortuary.
