Era Lee (Carter) Popp
Era Lee (Carter) Popp, 87, Hays, died Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Via Christi Village.
She was born Sept. 16, 1926, in Marietta, Ga., to Narvell and Lottie (Belle) Carter.
She married Marvin L. Popp. He preceded her in death Dec. 14, 2001. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hays, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Beta Sigma Phi for more than 50 years.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, antiquing, and was a forgiving and generous person who always was helping others.
Survivors include three daughters, Tanya Greeve, Mayetta, and friend, George Tong Jr., Rhonda Brown and Kimberly Popp, both of Aurora, Colo.; six grandchildren, David Carlson and wife, Joy, Jessica Boeckman and husband, Joe, James Moss and wife, Jenny, Jason Moss and wife, Katie, Bethany Best, and Creighton Gibson; 11 great-grandchildren, Justin Phinney and wife, Reba, Seth Carlson, Mason Moss, Isabelle Estes, Sydney Moss, Aralynn Moss, Jaqix Carlson, Conner Best, Sean Best, Erin Boeckman, and Matt Boeckman and wife, Ashley; and a great-great-grandson, Hunter Phinney.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Lloyd Carter; and a sister, Inez Carter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine; burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Schoenfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday, both at the funeral home.
