Francis J. Turley
Francis J. Turley, 94, Holton, died Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Crestview Manor, Seneca.
He was born June 21, 1919, in Soldier to Jesse and Helen (McCann) Turley. He was a 1939 graduate of Ellis High School.
He married Jonnie (Crain) Oliver on May 19, 1972, in Geneva, Neb. He was a bus driver for Jackson Heights School District for more than 30 years; during that time he joined Jackson County Mounted Sheriff's Posse and retired as captain. He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Steve Turley, Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Don Oliver, Holton; five daughters, Lorraine Wilson, Provo, Utah, Becky Bruningsen, Prosser, Neb., Debbie Wessel, Lansing, Diana Martin, Covington, Ga., and Donna Peters, Circleville; two sisters, Phyllis Schuster, Hays, and Donna Dick, Livingston, Texas; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dustin Turley.
Services were April 15 at Mercer Funeral Home, Holton; burial in the Soldier Cemetery with military honors.
