Frank Jira, 92, La Crosse, died Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse.
He was born Sept. 20, 1921, near Timken to Joseph and Emma (Hamrdla) Jira. He was a 1938 graduate of La Crosse High School.
He married Helen Knoll on May 12, 1947, in La Crosse. She preceded him in death. He was a farmer and a USPS postmaster for 25 years.
He was a member of American Legion Post 33, La Crosse; Bohemian Lodge, Timken; Fraternal Order of Eagles, Great Bend; NAPUS; Sunflower Polka Club, Great Bend; VFW Post 3147, La Crosse.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II.
Survivors include his daughter, Fran Kovach, Springfield, Ill.; a grandson, Brandon Kovach, and wife, Diane Kovach, Annville, Penn.; a great-grandson, Nikolas Kovach; a great-granddaughter, Alexis Kovach; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Joe Jira; and a sister, Marie Schmidt.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse; interment in La Crosse City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Bohemian National Cemetery, Timken.
