Genevieve "June" Vavroch, 85, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society in Hays.

Genevieve "June" Vavroch, 85, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society in Hays.

She was born June 26, 1929, in Oberlin to Glen and Emma (Urban) Waldo.

She graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1947 and worked at banks in Oberlin for a time afterward.

She married Fred Vavroch on May 17, 1953. He preceded her in death April 29, 1996. They resided in and near Oberlin.

She was a loving and devoted farm wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother. She loved her family and enjoyed visiting Connie and her boys, watching their baseball games, musicals and other activities. She enjoyed farm life, raising a large garden, watching the nearby wildlife, and helping with the cattle and other farm tasks. The couple loved to dance and attended many barn and legion dances. She worked at the bank in Jennings and attended the United Methodist Church there.

Survivors include her daughter, Connie Dreher and husband, Darrell, Hays; step-sister-in-law, Karen Scott, Oberlin; two grandsons, Patrick Green and wife, Ashley, and Jeffrey Green, all of Hays; two step-grandsons, Dustin Dreher and wife, Jamie, and Doug Dreher, all of Hays; two great-grandsons, Dylan and Gavin Green; and four step-great-grandchildren, Bradyn, Brett, Riley and Jace Dreher; nephews and nieces; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her stepfather, George Henry Scott; two stepbrothers, Rollie Scott and Don Scott and wife Alene; brother-in-law, Edward Vavroch and wife Florence; and sisters-in-law, Ellen Peters and Anna Sutton.

Services were held Wednesday at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin; burial was in the Oberlin Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Jennings Fire Department and Jennings United Methodist Church.
