James Laverne "Jim" Gordon, 81, WaKeeney, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.

James Laverne "Jim" Gordon, 81, WaKeeney, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.

He was born Nov. 14, 1932, in WaKeeney to Marvin and Elsie (Campbell) Gordon. He attended Trego Community Schools.

He married Shirley Meyer on July 28, 1968. He worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation as a highway worker for 25 years, prior to retirement in 1995. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War from 1951 to 1956.

Survivors include his wife; a son, David, Victor, N.Y.; a step-daughter, Brenda Hensley, Coallatin, Mo.; two sisters, Betty Vines, Seagoville, Texas, and Marjorie McAdams, Dallas; and a grandson.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jamie.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, WaKeeney; burial in Kansas Veterans Cemetery, with military honors.
