Marilea Jane (Hall) Wendler


Marilea Jane (Hall) Wendler, 87, died Monday, June 2, 2014, at Carle Hospital, Urbana, Ill.

She was born Oct. 5, 1926, in Schaeffer to Anthony Cornelius and Fanny (Moore) Hall.

A child of the Great Depression, she grew up on the family farm in west-central Kansas and lived most of her life there. Prior to her marriage, she taught school for several years.

She was a devoted mother and farm wife and wrote poetry, with one privately published collection of her works. She was devoted to animals. She enjoyed the companionship of many dogs and cats during her life.

Survivors include two sons, Kent Anthony Wendler and wife, Anne, and Craig Arthur Wendler and wife, Lorie; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wayne Hall; two sisters, Atha (Dwight) Kerschner and Marjorie (Clarence) Scheuerman; her husband, Arthur Cyril Wendler; and a daughter, Artilea Ann Wendler.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. June 13 at St. Michael Catholic Church, La Crosse; burial in the family plot in Alexander Cemetery.

Visitation will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.

Memorials are suggested to Humane Society of the United States or Mass offerings to a local Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
