William "Bill" F. Walters, 87, formerly of Severin in Ellis County, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at Inova Alexandria Hospital, Alexandria, Va.

William "Bill" F. Walters, 87, formerly of Severin in Ellis County, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at Inova Alexandria Hospital, Alexandria, Va.

He was born Sept. 18, 1926, in Severin to Adam and Anna (Polifka) Walters.

He was a 1944 graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy, Hays, and served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He began a long career with the Central Intelligence Agency in 1949. Among his overseas postings were Japan, England, Cyprus, Pakistan, India and the Philippines. He retired in 1984 and moved to Vienna, Va., where he lived until his death.

He married Barbara Hunt in England in 1954. She preceded him in death in 1997.

Survivors include a son, U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Glenn Walters and his wife, Gail, Alexandria, Va.; a daughter, Sharon Williams, Roanoke, Va.; four sisters, Mary Frances Dreiling and Dorothy Goetz, both of Victoria, and Eileen Leiker and her husband, Wilfred, and Rozanne Augustine, all of Hays; a brother, Ken Walters and his wife, Linda, Bend, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ernest, Harold and Irvin Walters.

Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., later this year.
