Barbara Randa, 60, Salisbury, N.C., died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at her home after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
She was born March 10, 1956, in Hays to George and Lenora (Kuhn) Lang. She was a 1974 graduate of Marian High School and continued on to North Central Kansas Technical College, where she received her licensed practical nurse license in 1975.
She married Gene Randa on Nov. 12, 1976. They started their home in Hays. Through 40 years of marriage, she enjoyed being the mother to three children and grandmother to three grandchildren. After graduation, she began her career in nursing at St. Anthony Hospital, Hays. Her career also included working at the Eddy Clinic for Dr. Luecha in Hays; RCIA director for St. Nicholas parish in Hays; working for a family practice in Hiawatha; and the VA Hospital and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, both in Salisbury.
She was a faithful and active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She enjoyed arts, crafts, gardening, quilting and spending quality time with her friends and family.
Survivors include her husband, Salisbury; two sons, Brent and Bryson Randa, both of Salisbury; a daughter, Amber Harvell and husband, Daniel, Mooresville, N.C.; her father, George Lang, Hays; a brother, Paul Lang and wife, Linda, Hays; a sister, Kathy Goeken and husband, John, Shorewood, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Tegan Harvell, Elyse Harvell and Hadli Randa.
She was preceded in death by her mother and a sister, Mary Lang.
Services will be at 10 a.m. March 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Salisbury.
