I was traveling through your area with my wife recently on vacation when I had the misfortune of running out of gas a few miles outside the Hays city limits. I was walking into town in the 99 degree heat when Steven Flaska, from nearby Victoria, came to my aid and drove me to a gas station where I was able to buy a gas container and a gallon of gas.

He insisted on taking me back to my car where my wife was stranded and ensured that we were able to get into town safely. He would not accept any payment for his assistance, saying, "I don't help people for money. I help because it's the right thing to do."

In today's world, caring for one's fellow man with no thought of remuneration is a rare thing, so I wanted to let your community know this type of behavior is alive and well in your town. Thanks again to my guardian angel.
