Education is the key

This is response to Les Knoll's article on Sept. 4. In 1999, John McCain gave an interview with San Francisco Chronicle saying that overturning Roe v. Wade would not make any sense, because then women would have to have illegal abortions.

Les the RNC had every chance in the last eight years to do something about it, but didn't. They had the Congress, the White House and the Supreme Court. Why didn't they? Because it isn't in their best interest. When Roe v. Wade was written, there where seven justices -- four Republican and five Democrats. Three Republicans and four Democrats were for it. Justice Blackmun wrote this opinion a Republican. Two dissenting Justices White a Democrat appointed by John Kennedy and Justice Rehnquist a Republican appointed by Richard Nixon. Justice White concluded it was should be left for the political process. Justices Rehnquist concluded it was up to the states to decide. The process appalled nether Justice. You say only Democrats are for abortions and Republicans are against, you are wrong I know quite a few people from both parties that are for choice and against abortions. Every four years we here from the RNC's lap dog's, you have to vote Republican to stop abortions, they had plenty of time to change this practice but didn't.

When going to the polls in November do a little thinking of how the last four years has made your life, is it better? or worse? Vote your conscience not because one party has said they will end abortions and the other party won't. Les, if you really want to stop abortions then put your pin where it should be, educating the young on what they are doing and consequences of their actions. Ed Brown
