An open letter to the Hays Kiwanis Club:

To paraphrase a quote from the Dr. Seuss classic "How the Grinch Stole Christmas": "My heart grew three sizes this past weekend at the Kansas Kiwanis District Convention in Lawrence."

My sincere thanks and appreciation to my fellow club members and their spouses for traveling to Lawrence to support me as I was installed as the 2012-13 governor for the Kansas District.

You overwhelmed me with your attendance, your exuberant display of enthusiasm, and your generous gift of goodies. I love Kiwanis for many reasons, but it is through the friendships I have made during my years as a Kiwanis member that make the organization and experience more meaningful for me.

Hays Kiwanis members, you are the best! I am lucky to be a member of this great organization and blessed to be a member of our local club. Thank you for your continued support.
