"Oh say can you see, by ...?" Yes, indeed.
Can you see the hypocrisy? Can you see your bank balance? Can you see the grave markers? Can you see what amounted to lies? Can you see any benefits to empire building on your nickel? Can you learn to like being called a government freeloader by one certain rich want-to-be government freeloader? Can you see the load your neighbor's dog left on your lawn before you walk into the house after mowing the lawn?
If not, you will really hear about it from the most important government you know. No, I do not think we need a rule/law for pet owners, but it seems that folks ought to do the "right" thing and pick up after their pet. And, keep their pets out of the flower gardens and such, if possible.
If you abhor the thought of cleaning up after your dog, then maybe you ought not to have a dog. Do senators and presidents have identical citizenship requirements? Are we certain that he was elected? Or that he took a proper oath of office? I dunno.
I'm still trying to figger out if Bush was really elected due to those hanging chads in 2000. Oh well, just a few questions that popped in my head from the Sept. 19 HDN opinion page -- just another day in paradise, the land of the fee, full of hypocrisy from sea to shining sea.
