What is mainstream?

Has anybody besides me wondered why some media gets hammered relentlessly by the left? Why would the left go crazy attacking Fox News and conservative talk radio? It's my belief conservative media has become mainstream, while the so-called mainstream media has gone south.

Just like spending, the economy, national security, health care and other issues Obama and company are on the wrong side of public opinion when it comes to media.

Much of MSM is in the tank for Obama and company, and it's dramatically hurting their ratings and subscriptions and the reason it is no longer mainstream.

One could conclude that many on the left (that being mostly progressive and liberal Democrats) must think that mainstream Americans are stupid or uninformed. Then, on the other hand, maybe it's outright fear coming from the left? Maybe both?

Let me be clear at this point that Americans are not stupid. They are becoming informed like never before. They see through the smoke and mirrors and they're getting the truth from CM, not MSM.

Americans are center right, not center left and most certainly not far left and it is far left that Obama and the Democrat controlled Congress is all about. That being said, it's no surprise to me that MSM is in trouble for their alliance to the left.

The public knows MSM is biased and that's why they turn to CM. The bias is old news. The bias has been substantiated with study after study and not why I write. What I want readers to think about is: If our government is supposed to represent the views of the majority and that's what CM does, and that's what our government ignores and disagrees with, what does that say about today's government? To me, this dichotomy speaks volumes about where we are as a democracy! Our government does its own thing totally ignoring public opinion.

More people watch Fox News than all the other networks combined, including CNN. The ratings in January had Fox with the greatest number of viewers in 13 of their newscasts compared to CNN, ABC, etc. Fox completely blows away the competition. It's been rated as most trustworthy for news.

It's been rated as most fair and balanced particularly when studies showed Fox treating McCain the same as Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign. CNN's viewers are down, along with all the other FOX competitors -- while Fox numbers keep going up.

Keep in mind it is not just Republicans that tune in; it's independents, Libertarians -- and Democrats as well.

Looking at talk radio, the listening audience for conservative hosts like Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingraham and a whole host of others, versus liberal ones, is like comparing Pop Warner football to the NFL. In fact, liberals' boldest attempt to compete -- Air America -- went bankrupt for lack of listeners.

Critics accuse conservative media of distorting the news, even lying. It is MSM that distorts the news and, in far too many cases, avoids reporting on news that puts the left in a negative light. It is CM that gives the public the truth. And that, in a nutshell, explains CM's success and popularity. The bottom line is that if CM engaged in distortion and lies the public would see through it and tune out rather than in.

If CM has the largest number of viewers and listeners, why do all elements of the left, led by Obama, demonize this media? The reasons are obvious. CM reflects the thinking of mainstream America, while Obamaists do not. Our government is not for "we the people."
