Counterproductive

Once again, Barack Obama proves we made a mistake selecting him as our president.
Everything he touches, so to speak, has negative results. There's spending, unemployment, sinking dollar, post racism, the Afghan war, Iranian nukes, etc. His actions on virtually everything are counterproductive. If I'm wrong about the whole nine yards, would somebody show me and readers just where this country is better off since his January inauguration.
What's the new thing? Obama (and his party) are trying to marginalize conservative TV (Fox) and conservative talk radio by waging war against them. Since the attacks the ratings have gone up for Fox, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck and many more that don't share Obama and Congress's views on major issues. Here's another case of being counterproductive!
Why would a president take on the most successful TV newscast that is watched, not only by Republicans and conservatives, but also by liberals, Democrats and a great many Independents? Why take on Rush Limbaugh only to see his listeners go from 13 million to 15 million? Not very smart! It's self-defeating.
If more people watch Fox than CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC and PBS combined, there has to be a good reason. Same holds true for talk radio where a dozen conservatives succeed while liberals struggle for an audience. Mainstream America knows it is a fact that mainstream media has sold out to Obama with its obvious liberal bent. Obama is liberal and so is MSM.
Obama's Communications Director Anita Dunn said "we control the media." That's true except for Fox and talk radio. Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod say Fox is not a news organization but has a perspective. Give me a break! Mainstream media doesn't have a "liberal" perspective? Fox and talk radio provide important news, don't kid yourself. And, what's wrong with a perspective if you believe in free speech as long as many facts are included and there are always many. Liberals can have a perspective but conservatives can't?
There is an endless list of factual news items MSM won't touch. As an example there's the ACORN scandals, Obama's communist czar Van Jones, Obama's school czar Jennings who is a homosexual activist, the impact of stimulus bill on employment won't even reach into next year, Anita Dunn admires China's Mao Tse Tung who killed 70 million, etc. See my HDNews blog for more.
We need conservative news to keep us informed about the appalling untruths and schemes of Obama healthcare (OHC) such as the following. Delay OHC costs until Obama's re-election? A separate bill to pay doctors in order to hide real costs? Keep our private insurance when the OHC public option can print money at the drop of a hat? Vote on bills not even written? Vote on bills too long to read? Demonize insurance company profits that only average 6 percent? Abortion and illegals not covered with OHC? Dressing up a group of liberal socialist doctors? Won't add a penny to the deficit? Taxing millionaires to pay for it when there aren't enough millionaires? OHC still leaves some 15 million uninsured while we add another trillion to the deficit?
(1) Thank God for a "free" conservative press so very crucial to a democracy. MSM is not free. Can you imagine a MSM journalist free to criticize Obama? (2) It has been my experience the biggest critics of conservative media never tune into that media. They get their cues second hand from MSM. (3) Trying to silence our "free" press once again proves Obama is not the man for this job.
Les Knoll
Victoria and Gilbert, Ariz.
Mr. Obama and his Czars have made huge progress(ive) changes. That is the problem. The progress is toward a socialist, anti capitalist goal to take over massive segments of the economy, and if they can not take them over, wreck the economy to take it over. The good news is that the backlash to this agenda and "progress" will put initiatives back 75 years, thank God. By the way, God Bless America, and Rev. Wright. Down South the phrase was, "God Bless them, they just don't know any better." Unfortunately that is not the situation with this Administration and their liberal backers, including George Soros....they know very well what they are doing.

The Spinmeister: 11/9/2009
Wow! I feel all better now reading Brody. Poor grammar intended. What a spinmeister! Blame it on Bush. That explains everything. The greatest economy this country ever had was during Bush tax cuts. Just wait when Obama tax increases kick in. Our economy tanked as a result of Democrats forcing financial institutions to give everybody and anybody a home mortgage. When I die I want this Brody guy at my funeral telling my family everything is hunky dory in spite of!

Yes, and?: 11/9/2009
Mr. Knoll specifically asked for somebody to show him where the country is better off since Obama's inauguration. I simply provided examples of where the country is better off. That doesn't mean the country is perfect and there still aren't things to fix. It just means everything is not worse as Mr. Knoll would suggest. Furthermore, Conservatives who know nothing about economics always point out the high unemployment rate which has continued to increase while the business sector recovered as some sort of indication Obama's economic policies are failing. The fact is unemployment is a lagging indicator and the unemployment rate will continue to increase long after the economy comes out of recession. The is a well known and well documented fact. The unemployment rate is always the last thing to turn around. Obama hasn't even been president for 1 year. It took George W. Bush and the Republicans 8 long years to destroy the greatest economy in the world, it's going to take Obama more than 6 months to reverse the damage.

Maybe Knoll should have said almost everything coming from Obama is counterproductive. That being said, Brody's silver lining comments can't be realistic. Just yesterday I got on my computer to find that unemployment reached 10.2%. Obama said that with the stimulus bill it would not go over 8.8%. The stimulus bill is doing very little to create jobs. It's not possible to accurately calculate jobs saved. We've lost 3.3 million jobs and maybe saved or created a few thousand. Those saved or created can't be scientifically documented. Even Obama's liberal media is questioning figures put out by the White House, particularly the GDP figure, which is being called fraudulent. Obama's Associated Press media wrote "Stimulus Jobs Overstated by Thousands." If the number of unemployed keeps going up and up how can we possibly have the rosey picture Brody claims?

The Cash for Clunkers program cost taxpayers $24,000 per car. That's money we don't have and is added to our deficit. Japanese auto manufacturers profitted more than the American companies. Most vehicles purchased under this program would have been bought anyway without C for C. $24,000 per car for what? C for C was supposed to put more gas efficient vehicles on the road but many purchased were gas guzzlers. A minuscule of emissions reduction resulted. Obliterating the old vehicles hurt salvage yards. The entire program did far more damage than good. I would say the whole thing was counterproductive.

Here ya go...: 11/4/2009
You don't see what Barack Obama has accomlished so far because you choose not to. You want to know where the country is better off? Look at the stock market January 2009 when Obama took office and look at it today. Is it not better? Much, much, better? Yes, it is. Look at monthly job losses then and now (558,000 lost in Jan. 09 compaired to 52,000 in Oct. 09). Is that not much better? Look at consumer confidence, housing starts, retail sales, manufacturing, real estate, gross domestic product, it's all better now than then. During the last 3 quarters of 2008 and the 1st quarter of 2009 (part of which Obama wasn't even president yet) the nation's GDP - the single biggest indicator of the economic health of the country - shrank by -2.5%, -5.0%, and -6.5% respectively. In the second quarter of 2009, after the passage of Obama's economic stimulus, GDP shrank by just 0.7%. By the 3rd quarter of 2009, GDP had INCREASED to +3.5%. This is a direct result of Obama stimulus programs including "Cash For Clunkers" (which Ford credits for allowing it to post a $1 billion profit Q3) and the first time homebuyers tax credit which the National Assoication of Realtors credits, along with Obama's foreclosure prevention program, for reducing housing inventory dramatically and stablizing home prices; thus reversing the root cause of what created this mess in the first place (on Bush's watch). If you want to debate whether the cost of the stimulus bill is worth the recovery we are seeing now that is a separate argument and valid one. However, there is no question we would not be in this recovery right now without the stimulus spending. There is also no question that the TARP program (aka "bailout") has saved the largest banks and finanicial institutions in America from collapsing. Again, if you want to debate the ethical and moral hazards of using taxpayer money to bailout financial institutions deemed "too big to fail" that is fine, but it is also a separate argument. It is a fact that without TARP funds, Bank of America, AIG, General Motors, Chase, CitiGroup, and most every other very large financial institution in America would not exist right now. And like it or not, if those companies didn't exist right now neither would America. These companies control the money for business loans, home loans, payrolls, business operating lines of credit, inventory purchases, etc. etc. etc. You let every major bank in America to fail and you get the complete and total destruction of the American economy. Again, there is no question, among any economist, that without TARP money every major bank in the country would be bankrupt right now. The United States economy is entirely credit based. This isn't rocket science. No Banks = No Credit = No Economy. So complain if you want, but at least there's still an America and an American economy for you to complain about.

The Liberals Are Coming: 11/4/2009
You can bet the liberals will be coming with their blogs to attack Knoll. A good bet also is that they will nit pick here and there about what he wrote and ignore three big questions. What has Obama contributed to this country of any major consequence that has a positive impact? We're not talking about little things here or there. Just where is our president being productive and not counterproductive? Secondly, has Obama hurt conservative media with his attacks? Third, if Obama isn't succeeding in anything major, yet his controlled media won't criticize him how is that a free press with no bias? It doesn't take a whole lot of intelligence to make silly remarks and nit pick while avoiding the big picture. Keep those letters to the editor coming Knoll!
