Little's letter to Santa has big message

My name is Sam, and I am 6 years old and live in Hays, Kansas. I am sending you this letter, not because I want to ask you for any special toy this Christmas, but I wanted to ask you if you can send a little of your Christmas magic to my hometown today. You see, Big Brothers Big Sisters is going to be on TV, Santa, today from noon to 5 p.m. for their Christmas for Kids Telethon!
I know that you know I got a Big Brother from them about a year ago! And Santa, I'm surely on your good list this year, right? Since my Big Brother has been around, I've brought my grades up, am a bigger helper at home for my mom and yes Santa, I'm even nicer to my little sister!
So, Santa, what I really need is for you to spread some of your magic throughout Hays today while Big Brothers Big Sisters is on TV. They will be asking people to call in and share their money so other kids like me and my sister can have a Big Brother or Big Sister too. Because of people being so helpful last year, they were able to match over 100 other kids with a Big Brother or Sister in 2013. Wow, Santa, 100!
One time, I stacked 100 pennies and my mom said it made $1, but I think she was confused, because dollars are green. Speaking of money, Santa did you know that Big Brothers Big Sisters does not get any money from those important people who make the laws? They get their money by other people in Hays sharing their money. Really nice people like, Eagle Communications, the Robert and Pat Schmidt Foundation, United Way of Ellis County and Nex-Tech really help them a lot. And that's not all, there are lots and lots of other really, really nice people who help Big Brothers Big Sisters. Isn't that cool, Santa? My mom says she could never give enough thanks to Big Brothers Big Sisters, their sponsors and, of course, my Big Brother for everything they've done for me. She's so proud of me because I'm making better choices, having a good attitude (most of the time except when my sister sticks out her tongue at me) and, Santa, I even got student of the month this year, and my mom got a really cool sticker for her car!
So, if you could just help people to remember to call the special number they see on TV during the telethon today, and give a little of their money to help kids. I want every kid who used to be like me to get the same chance I did by having a Big Brother. If you can do that, Santa, I promise that's all I need this year. Even my sister says if you can do this she won't ask you for anything else this year -- but I still think she is going to ask you for a new Barbie, scooter or stroller for her baby. Sometimes she just doesn't understand this big people stuff like we do, Santa. My mom also said some of the money people give will help make Christmas food baskets. And their donation is tax-deductible (I'm not really sure what this means, but Mom said this part matters and it has something to do again with those important people who make the laws).
I just hope that everyone understands why this is so important to me. I know this is a big job I'm asking of you, Santa, but I've seen the magic Big Brothers Big Sisters can make and I hope we can all work together today to make some Christmas magic for other kids. Thanks for your help, Santa. My mom always says to just believe in the magic of Christmas. I know you won't let me down.
