Though it occurred more than 2,000 years ago, the evidence was there -- it was crystal clear. Lepers were healed of their skin lesions. Blind men found their sight. The dumb could now hear. The lame leapt with joy. Those who were sick were made well and demons were cast into the sea. Lazarus was raised from the dead after being closed in the tomb for four days.
If that wasn't enough, Jesus flat-out confirmed Peter's declaration that he was, indeed, the Christ, the Son of the Living God. The truth was evident -- right before their very eyes. Jesus Christ was, and always will be, God.
They killed him, anyway.
Today, the evidence is clear. Scientists concur -- life begins at conception. We have pictures that show us that at the very moment fertilization takes place, all human chromosomes are present and unique human life begins. By day six, the baby begins implantation in the uterus and by the end of the third week, the baby's heart begins to beat with its own blood, often a different type than the mother's. By the end of this same week, the baby's backbone, spinal column and nervous system are forming. The liver, kidneys and intestines begin to take shape. By week four, the child is 10,000 times larger than when conception first took place. By the time week five comes, the eyes, legs and hands begin to develop.
The mother might only now be noticing that she has missed her period.
At week six, brain waves are detectable; mouth and lips are present; fingernails are forming. At week seven, eyelids and toes form, and the baby's tiny nose is distinct. The baby can kick and swim around. At week eight, every organ is in place and unique fingerprints begin to form. The baby can hear.
Soon, ultrasound pictures show the baby sucking his/her thumb. Three-dimensional pictures show the baby's unique face and chubby little cheeks within the womb. The mother can feel the baby's hiccups. In fact, the film "The Silent Scream," which was published by Dr. Bernard Nathanson, an ex-abortionist, showed concrete evidence that babies can feel pain when they are being assaulted with the surgical instruments inside their mother's womb. The murder victim in the film, an 11-week old baby, lets out a silent scream when it is assaulted by the surgeon's knife.
The evidence is there. Still, we kill them. Every second of every hour of every day.
Come, step out of the tomb of denial and destruction. Allow the miracles and hope of the Easter triumph to change your heart and mind. Let the evidence that is here for you to see, feel, hear and touch, transform your heart, lest you die in your disbelief and sin. Look upon the holy sacrifice of the Lamb and see and feel the love Christ has for each of us.
