We recently saw the movie "2016: Obama's America." The author and narrator of the movie is Dinesh O'Souga. He is president of King's College in New York City.

We recommend that everyone young and old and whatever your political persuasion maybe to go with an open mind to see the movie. It is now showing at the theater in Hays. It certainly is quite thought-provoking. We have already started to encourage our grandchildren to go see the movie and got a positive response.

As we were leaving the theater, the peoples' mood had turned somber. These were some of the comments that were made to me by people leaving the theater.

One lady said to me, "I just moved from New Mexico to Kansas. Where are all the young people to see this movie?" I had just made that same comment to my husband. Another lady's reaction to my comment that the movie certainly gave us some food for thought said, "It is more than that. It's just plain scary of what could happen to us." Another comment was, "Yes, we still want hope and change. We hope to get a different president who will change things around."

Are we happy about the sky-rocketing debt we and our children are being saddled with? Doesn't that weaken our country? I say yes, it does.

Are we happy when we hear a speaker of the House say, in reference to Obamacare, that you have to pass the bill to know what is in the bill. Does that make sense to any of us?

Do we need same-sex marriage to be legalized? I agree wholeheartedly with Father Earl Meyer who had a great read on the faith page in The Hays Daily News on Aug. 24. He concluded his article by saying freedom of conscience is paramount both ways. Those who choose same-sex relationships would do well to find a new word for their commitment. Marriage is taken. My sentiment exactly.

Do we think it is unfair to ask for identification of a person who wants to vote in a federal election? I don't think it is unfair. Do we like the spike in gasoline prices? National average for gasoline when President Obama took office was $1.84; it is now $3.73. President Obama puts restrictions on oil exploration in the U.S.A., but gives financial help to other countries for the purpose of drilling petroleum. Do we agree that the U.S.A. will become weaker when the president makes huge cuts for the military and our weapons arsenal? You make the call.

Do you agree with President Obama, that if you worked hard and stuck your neck out to build a business that you didn't build it; someone else did?

Does that sound reasonable to all the hard-working business people?

In the Aug. 26 Hays Daily News, first lady Michelle Obama says she doesn't trip over her 11 and 14 years old girls watching the Kardasians, stating the girls need to explore all of it, the great and the not so great. Is an 11-year-old mature enough to discern theater from normal? I think a lot of us would agree they are not.

This movie, "2016: Obama's America" is not about Obama bashing. It simply brings to light the vision of President Obama and his associations. I am reminded of all the old saying, "Tell me who your friends are, and I'll tell you who you are."

So the question is, are we happy with the changes we have gotten? Let's get on the right track before our government changes our America to an America we don't recognize anymore. Let's remember the famous words of President Ronald Reagan: Government is not the solution to our problems. Government is the problem.
