Great day

The weather was beautiful, the guests were relaxed and carefree and BBQ smells filled the air.

It was a great day at Lewis Field Stadium, as Tiger fans gathered at TailGreat 2012 before the Sept. 22 Fort Hays State University football game. Through the efforts of the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce, FHSU, Eagle Radio and every TailGreat participant, the event was a huge success. Families and friends played games, ate and had a good time.

TailGreat also included a BBQ contest with nine participants. The first place winner, Tom Schmidtberger, was awarded with a brand-new Traeger grill, donated by Horizon Appliance. Second- and third-place winners, Roy Spray and Dan and Judy Parks, were awarded cash prizes.

Thanks to all nine contestants and congratulations to the 2012 BBQ winners.

Hope to see everyone next year.

Tammy Wellbrock, executive director, Hays Area Chamber of Commerce
