Urban will be missed

The city of Hays has lost a valued employee when airport manager Terry Urban resigned recently.

In my 41 years in Hays, I have not see a more dedicated government employee. Of all the airport managers, Terry has been the most progressive manager working to get our first 10,000 boardings to qualify us for $1 million from the FAA.¬

He put his heart and soul into the Hays Regional Airport. He went beyond the call of duty getting up at 2 or 3 a.m. during a winter snow storm to help his maintenance man clear the runways to make sure we had airline service.

Many times, he was at the airport on his day off to make sure everything was operating properly. He had the ability to create good rapport with officials of the FAA.

We will miss him and we wish him good fortune in the future.
