Penner to speak at Amazing 100 Miles meeting

SMOLAN -- Marci Penner, director of the Kansas Sampler Foundation, will be the featured speaker at the 10th annual dinner meeting of the Amazing 100 Miles Tourism Coalition on Nov. 19.

Penner will explain the foundation's latest endeavor, Rural Kansas Come and Get It! The project's goal is to help sustain rural communities by promoting things to see and do in rural Kansas, in part using social networking.

The Sampler Foundation was awarded a $50,000 grant from the Kansas Department of Commerce Travel and Tourism division to initiate the project.

The shedule for the annual dinner meeting is as follows:

*11 a.m. to noon, registration, Hickory Tree Restaurant, Smolan.

* 11 a.m., ambassadors meeting in the upstairs music room.

* Noon, annual meeting and buffet.

* 12:30 p.m., speaker Marci Penner.

Reservations can be made by mailing a check for $15 per person to Amazing 100 Miles, 223 Highway 232, Wilson, KS 67490, by Nov. 16.
