"Give Honor To..."
May 4, 2012
"For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named..." (Eph 3:14-15, NKJ)
In October 2012, I will complete thirty-five years of ministry, and all but four of those have been here at Westview Church. God has blessed me with opportunity to serve here in Hays, and I think I have longevity among active ministers. All that means is I am much older today than when I moved here in July of 1981!
Living in a community for an extended period has enabled me to see God move in a different [parts] of the Family of God. Most of us would call those [parts] a denomination: i.e., Catholic, Methodist, Assembly of God, Presbyterian, Mennonite Brethren, Disciples of Christ, Baptist, Nazarene, Church of Christ, Lutheran, and the most important one of all, Charismatic/Pentecostal! (Hey, I am writing the article, you can put down your opinion in your article). If I left your denomination out, I ask your forgiveness.
What makes us family is our like faith in Jesus Christ, the Resurrected Savior! We, through the Blood of Jesus are part of the family of God, and we are ONE. Consequently, when one of our family members struggles, we should be willing to encourage them to stay with it. When one of our family members accomplishes something good we should be happy for them and tell them how proud we are of them. The Word of God teaches us to do just that.
As previously stated, I have been here a long time and have observed church after church reach out and touch lives with the love of God. Recently, the family of North Oak Community Church held an event that makes me even more proud (in a good way), to be part of the family of God. They planned and carried out a Red Carpet event for individuals with Special needs, and their caregivers--touching them with the love of God. To the family of North Oak Community Church, your hearts to serve that special evening not only blessed those you served, but those who observed..."thank you for giving to the Lord!"
