GRAINFIELD -- Gove County Catholic Parishes -- Sacred Heart, Park; St. Agnes, Grainfield; and Immaculate Heart, Grinnell -- will have their annual parish mission from Sept. 15 to 19.

This year, the mission will be at St. Agnes at 6:30 p.m. each evening. Mass will be offered Sept. 19. There will be the opportunity for confession Sept. 17.

The theme of the mission is "Our Catholic Faith: Tradition, Sacraments, Mission and Practices." The mission will include a series of presentations centering around symbols of the Catholic faith -- the Bible, crucifix, ashes, bread and altar.

Mission presenter will be the Rev. Peter Schavitz, a Redempotorist Priest from St. Louis. Schavitz professed as a Redempotorist in 1970 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1976. He has a wide and varied apostolic experiences and conducts 16 to 18 missions each year in the United States. He began preaching missions in 1985 and since has preached at more than 300 parish missions.
