ELLIS -- Stacy Befort, a kindergarten teacher at Washington Grade School, was selected as a Kansas Teacher of the Year Region 1 semi-finalist.
The announcement was made during a cermony Sept. 8 at the Salina Country Club. Each of the semi-finalists received a red marble apple with a wooden base.
Befort has been teaching for 20 years.
