VFW Auxiliary members honored

Department of Kansas VFW Commander J.T. Plummer recently presented the Ester McComb Memorial Award to Linda Marshall and Leona Washburn.

The Esther McComb Memorial Award is given to an auxiliary member for her years of outstanding auxiliary service to the Department of Kansas Veterans of Foreign Wars.  

Marshall, life member of VFW Post 9076, Hays, received the award for her dedication and service in the 9th District.

She is now in her fifth term as district president. Marshall has volunteered a number of times in various other positions on the local and district levels.  

Those positions include Hays president and department Buddy Poppy chairwoman and department cancer aid and research chairwoman.

Washburn, life member of Post 2981, Oakley, has exemplified her commitment by serving as  9th District chaplain and district membership chairwoman, as well as color bearer for the department for 17 years.
