Special to The Hays Daily News

The Blue Party, from New Orleans, will bring its folk rock to Chuck's bar, 507 W. Seventh, on Wednesday. The show will mark the band's third appearance in Hays in the last year. The two-set concert will start at 10 p.m.

For the last year and a half, The Blue Party has toured the Midwest and the Southeast tirelessly, building a fanbase.

The Blue Party first played in Hays in September 2010 with its first appearance at Chuck's. When The Blue Party returned to Hays in April, the band drew more than 100 people on a Wednesday night and had the crowd singing their lyrics.

Formed in New Orleans in 2008, The Blue Party got its start by playing house parties for six months.

As The Blue Party plays a style of music the Marquette Journal in Milwaukee dubbed "Ameriparty" -- a combination of Americana and party.

The name, The Blue Party, originally was intended to reference bluegrass, but the group is influenced by other styles.
