The Fort Hays State University/Hays City Band has begun their summer season. Rehearsals continue at 7 p.m. Mondays in the band room at Malloy Hall on the campus of Fort Hays State University.

The first concert of the season is at 7:30 p.m. today on the FHSU Quad and will feature guest conductors Lane Weaver, Nathan Froebe and Matt Rome. Subsequent concerts will be June 18 at Washington Grade School in Ellis and June 25 in WaKeeney. The season will wrap up at 7 p.m. July 4 at Historic Fort Hays.

Jeff Jordan, conductor of the band, said group is open to all ranges and abilities.

"We have players in middle school as well as community members in their 80s with almost everything in between," Jordan said. "This band points up the fact that music is something you can always do while it's also a great intergenerational learning experience for everyone involved."

For more information, contact Jordan at (785) 628-5364 or by email at jjordan@fhsu.edu.
