Special to The Hays Daily News

New York's Broadway Boys promise an evening of classic songs "reinvented with high-voiced harmony, melisma, and energy" for the Encore Series' 250th performance at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 in Fort Hays State University's Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center.

Doors open at 7 p.m.

"Melisma" -- a group of notes sung to one syllable of text -- is one of the vocal styles they bring from the New York stage from shows such as "Wicked," "Mary Poppins," "Jersey Boys," "Mamma Mia" and many more. The Broadway Boys recreate show tunes with a unique mix of pop, funk, gospel, jazz, and folk.

Fusing Broadway and popular music, Broadway Boys hope to introduce audiences outside the traditional theatre community to a new kind of music. They perform across the country, promising an evening full of musical talent and entertainment.

The Encore Series was created in 1981 to provide FHSU and the regional community with the unique opportunity to attend world-renowned performances throughout the year. Performances range from traditional broadway shows, jazz, comedies, dancing, plays and everything in between.

The Broadway Boys is part of the Encore Series season ticket prices. Tickets just for The Broadway Boys now are available.

Ticket prices for this show: reserved seating for the public is $30; seniors and children ages 5-17 are $28; and FHSU students are $21. For unreserved seating, tickets are $26 for the public, $24 for seniors and children ages 5-17 and $17 for FHSU students.

Tickets can be ordered online at webapps.fhsu.edu/encoreseries/SingleOrder.aspx, by phone at (785) 628-5306 or at the Student Service Center in the Memorial Union.

Broadway Boys is sponsored by the Best Western Butterfield Inn, 1010 41st.
