Hays mayor Troy Hickman has proclaimed the week of April 7 to 13 as Barbershop Harmony Week.

The Barbershop Harmony Society, a worldwide organization, officially was recognized April 11, 1938.

The local chapter, the Hays High Plains Barbershop Chorus, will have its 45th annual show Saturday. It has grown into two performances at Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center at Sheridan Hall on the Fort Hays State University campus.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $14 at the door.

Performances will be at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

* Simply Charmed, 1011 Main.

* Walgreens, 2600 Vine.

* Student Service Center, FHSU Memorial Union.
