Summer open gym hours

8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday

8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday

1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

HRC programs take priority over open gym time. A gym schedule is updated weekly and is available each Friday in the office or on the web page.

Family Day at HAP

Bring the whole family out to the HAP today for Family Day. Families come and enjoy family time and fun at the Hays Aquatic Park with our reduced admission price of $1 per person.

34th annual Hays Merchants Golf Tournament

Be part of this great Hays tradition the 34th annual Hays Merchants Golf Tournament. New this year is a continental breakfast at Smoky Hill Country Club sponsored by Hays Chevrolet. Play will be July 26 at Smokey Hill Country Club and July 27 Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course. The tournament is open to both men and women, with flights for men, women and senior divisions (55 years old and older). All flights must have a minimum of 10 golfers. The number of golfers and Saturdays scores will determine the number of flights. This tournament is open to everyone, not just Ellis County residents. Thanks to our City Champion Sponsors - Nex-Tech and Nex-Tech Wireless. Flight Sponsors are Adams Brown Beran and Ball, Coldwell Banker, Greg's Alignment and Auto Repair, RDH Electric and Auto World, and many other local businesses. Entry deadline: July 23. Entry fee: $75, includes breakfast. Time: Tee times start at 7:30 a.m. Pick your tee time when you register. Ages: 18 and older.

Wednesday deadline

Tennis lessons

Get registered today to learn a great lifetime skill. Participants need to have their own racquets. Contact the HRC if your child doesn't have a racquet and we will find them one. Entry fee: $15. Date: Mondays to Thursdays, July 21 to July 31. Ages and Times: 8 to 10, 9 to 10 a.m.; 11 to 17, 10:15 to 11 a.m. Location: South Main tennis courts. Limitations: minimum five, maximum 12.

School's out

Come on out for a day of fun. The day will be full of games, crafts, snacks and more. We will go to the Hays Aquatic Park or the summer movie. Entry fee: $10. Date: July 23. Times: 1 to 5 p.m. Ages: 6 to 12. Location: Recreation Center. Limitation: minimum five, maximum 10.

Kansas hunter education class

Students must turn 11 by the last day of class in order to receive their hunter education card. All parents are welcome to attend the classes with their child. Students are required to attend every night. The refundable deposit will be given back the last night of class. Entry fee: $20 refundable deposit. Date: Session 1: July 22, 24 and 29. Times: Session 1: 6 to 9:30 p.m. Ages: 11 and older by the last day of class. Location: Recreation Center. Limitations: maximum 30.

Swim lessons

Classes will be Monday to Thursday the first week and Monday to Wednesday the second week. Red Cross guidelines are followed. You need to choose a session, time, and level. Make up dates: In case of bad weather, class will be made up on Thursday of week two. Refund policy: There are no refunds issued after the first day of class. Entry fee: $25. Date: July 21 to 30. Time: Time A, 9:15 to 9:55 a.m.; Time B, 10:10 to 10:50 a.m. Ages: 5 and older as of June 1. Levels: 1 to 6. Location: Hays Aquatic Park. Limitations: maximum 10 per class.
